Introduction
Cendio are proud to present ThinLinc 4.12.0, with more than 40 enhancements and fixes. The most prominent changes are:
- Clipboard now supports all Unicode characters. That means you can now copy and paste things like the Greek alphabet, the Cyrillic alphabet, mathematical symbols, or even emoji between your local desktop and your ThinLinc session.
- The native client and Web Access now both support various touch gestures that makes ThinLinc easier to use on devices without a standard mouse. E.g. tapping two fingers for a right click, or dragging two fingers to simulate a scroll wheel.
- ThinLinc now requires systemd for its services and no longer supports the classical SysV init system.
ThinLinc works on most modern Linux distributions and is supported on any platform that fulfills our documented requirements.

Server
- To improve compatibility with newer systems, ThinLinc server now uses systemd instead of SysV for services. This also means that ThinLinc server cannot run on systems without systemd. (4290)
General
- Copying and pasting text in and out from the Thinlinc session now supports all Unicode characters. Previously only ISO 8859-1, also called "latin 1", was supported. Note that both the server and client must be up to date for this to work. (3895)
Native Client
- The ThinLinc Client now supports touch gestures for common actions such as right-clicking, scrolling, and zooming. (7111)
- The ThinLinc Client for Windows is now signed with a new certificate. Windows Defender SmartScreen may show a warning until this new certificate has built enough trust with Microsoft's servers. (7407)
- Remove the built in control panel. Users should use the normal system configuration interfaces on their client devices to configure keyboard, mouse and screen settings. (5325)
- Added the possibility to emulate middle mouse button by pressing left and right mouse buttons simultaneously. (3990)
- Fixed an issue where system keys were not sent to the session when running the client on Linux with Wayland. (5647)
- Fixed an issue where the ThinLinc client might stop updating the display when maximized. (7265)
- Fixed an issue where authentication prompts or server banner messages could be cropped at around 1000 characters. (7513)
ThinLinc Web Access
- Web Access now supports touch gestures for common actions such as right-clicking, scrolling, and zooming. (5348, 7111)
- Alpha cursors are now supported in Web Access. Previously, a cursor pixel could only be fully opaque or fully transparent. Now all transparent parts of the mouse cursor are handled fully, just like in the native client. (7374)
Smart Card Support
- Fixed an issue where applications could crash when used with SafeNet smart card middleware. (7499)
Printing Support
- Modern versions of CUPS are now supported for thinlocal and nearest. (7509)
