Introduction
A new version of ThinLinc has been released. This is a minor update to the 3.1.0 version. For more information about the previous release, please see the release notes available at http://www.cendio.com/resources/docs/relnotes/3.1.0 .
Changes in This Release
In the list below, the enhancement number is given in parentheses.
Server
- ThinLinc works on most modern Linux distributions and Sun
Solaris (R). This release has been extensively tested on the
following platforms:
- Red Hat (R) Enterprise Linux 5.4 (64-bit)
- SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop 11 (R) (32-bit)
- Ubuntu (R) 9.10 (32-bit)
- Sun Solaris (R) 10
Note: The 64-bit version of SUSE Linux Enterprise Desktop is currently not recommended, since it does not provide a full 32-bit environment.
- The default keyboard map of the Xserver did not include the "Super" key. This caused problems with many applications, including the Ubuntu "indicator applet" and the Hamster applet. Therefore, the keyboard map now includes the "Super" instead of the "Hyper" key. (3511)
Client
- The performance of the Windows client has been improved. The new Windows client is about twice as fast as the previous version. This gives radically improved performance in many cases, such as video playback. The Windows client is now almost as fast as the Linux client. (3448)
- A client package for IGEL Universal Desktop terminals is now provided. This means that the ThinLinc client can be easily installed on IGEL terminals such as UD3 and UD5. (3446)
- The earlier client did not disconnect when the smart card was removed, if a client error dialog was active. This has been corrected. (3536)
Smart Card Support
- With the 3.1.0 client, it was not possible to use smart card authentication and smart card redirection simultaneously. This has been fixed. (3515)
- With earlier Windows clients, smart card authentication only worked with the first smart card reader on the system. The Windows client should now correctly handle multiple readers. (3516)
- Smart card redirection did not work correctly for 64-bit applications, this has been fixed. (2877)
- With earlier Windows clients, the smart card redirection could generate errors in the Windows Event Viewer. Also, it was not possible to use "Secure PIN Entry". Both these problems have been corrected. (3517)
- In some cases, the smart card redirection (pcsctun), as well as the RDP client rdesktop, could consume a lot of CPU even when the smart card reader was not used. This has been corrected. (2840)
Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI)
- The web administration module did not work correctly when an invalid host folder was specified. (3467)
TLCOS
- TLCOS now includes basic scanner redirection support. An image can be acquired from the scanner using the F8 menu. The scanned image can then be accessed from the ThinLinc session using the local drive redirection, in the "scans" folder. Please note that this feature is only supported on TLCOS. (3526)
- Client options can now easily be set in the Kickstart configuration file. (3537)
- TLCOS now requires 3 GiB of hard disk space. (3539)
